Bruce MacKinnon of the Halifax Chronicle Herald was cited for capturing the confluence of tragedy, history, place and time in his poignant cartoon of the National War Memorial reaching down to welcome Corporal Nathan Cirillo. His cartoon of Pauline Marois’s disastrous election campaign was a sharp stick in the eye of Quebec’s proposed Charter of Values.
